Hi, this is my first post so I apologize if I did something incorrectly. I have a 1959 Chrysler New Yorker four door sedan. I just got the trim clips needed to reattach the stainless side trim, but I am wondering what I should do with the inserts for the rear quarters and doors. Are they just held in by the pressure of the upper and lower trim or should I adhere them somehow? Also, does anyone have any recommendations on what I could use to seal the trim clips? My first thought is silicone. Any help is greatly appreciated.

The thin flat trim on these cars is just held in place by the moldings & clips on the sides of it. You don't need adhesive, and it isn't recommended because you would have a very difficult time removing it afterward without ruining it. But be sure the paint underneath the trim is in very good shape because dirt & water will get under it, and it could start to rust there if the paint isn't good. Silicone is a good choice for the sealer. A mastic should also work.
