I have some rust repair to tend to around the c-pillar. the damage runs under the trim for the rear side glass. In order to repair the holes I am going to need to remove the glass and replace the gaskets. I can not reuse the old gaskets because they are heavily split and cracked. I have researched for replacement gaskets but have had no luck in finding any. Does anybody know if there are any reproductions anywhere? Keep in mind I am on a college student budget.

Since nobody knows where to find any gaskets does anybody know how to make some? Or something to use as a substitute?

This worked for me on my ‘56 wagon, but it was time consuming and not cheap. Like you have a choice. Take one of the old gaskets and cut a cross section piece, carefully measure all the dimensions (and add the length required) then using the Steele rubber catalogue illustrated miscellaneous section (rv’s, marine, and trucks) try to find the closet possible match.

Gary Goers once told me you can make one from a rear window gasket of a '61 Newport coupe since it has the same profile (for my wagon). You'll need to carefully cut the angles and use window weld to glue them back together. It will definitely test your patience.

This is a picture of a cross section of the 1/4 window seal for the early B-body wagons.
A fairly complex extrusion.
