Hi All!

I am in the process restoring the dash on my 1955 dodge convertible and started working on cleaning up the gages. The chrome cleaned up nice but I do not know how to repair, replace the plastic gage cover.

Does anyone know if the cracks in the plastic gage cover can be repaired or where to find repops? I have a parts car and the plastic has started cracking on these as well.

Thanks

Sorry to say but I think that you can't fix that kind of stress cracking. You will have to check the internet (including eBay) for either the OEM Bezel and Lens PN 1626 901 (search as 1626901) or buy a good (better) gauge pair and cannibalize it. I have done both. Once, I got lucky and found a new-in-the-box OE 1626 901 bezel and lens on eBay. I have bought gauge pairs for parts, including the lens. Your car can use either 1955 or 1956 Dodge gauge lens/bezels.

Here is one 1955 Dodge gauge pair on eBay:

Thanks for the reply 56d500boy,

I was affraid of that.  The bezels in my parts car just started to show stress cracks and have gotten worse in just the last few months.  I'll start looking,

BTW, I saw your post on the summer door not closing. Have you got working?  I have had luck reinstalling them.  There is a procedure if you need some help that has worked for me.

Hondaman1974,

I am interested to see what you have.

I also saw your post about the 12 volt fuel gage not working properly. I have some information from mt 1961 Motors shop manual about how to test and calibrate these magnetic style gages if you need.
