I had to replace the brushes in my generator and while I had it apart, I replaced the pulley end bearing. The original bearing is/was a ND 3203 which is an open unsealed bearing. It gets oiled when you add oil to the little oil cup on top. This gets a lot of oil all in the generator and was a real mess to clean up.

I replaced this bearing with a National bearing number 203-FF, which is a permanently lubricated sealed bearing. This bearing is normally used as an air conditioner clutch pully bearing, so they last a long time. Have you ever had an air conditioner clutch pulley bearing go out?

This bearing is an exact fit for replacing the ND 3203. I used a micrometer to measure the OD, ID, and height and all exactly the same. Exactly the same thousands of an inch on all three measurements. And it fit perfectly.

Just something to consider if you have to rebuild your generator.

Nope never actually seen the bearing go south. I know a bunch of folks that have had their A/C die and leave the compressor on just to serve as an idler pulley. Them coils for the RV2 compressor's that I am dealing with aren't cheap. I found 2 nos ones on Ebay for $80.00 for the pair. Sorry this off topic about the bearing. And not even about the generator. Does your handle the hydro boost for the brakes and the power steering? Busy critter.
