I've got my lower control arms off the 57 Suburban but the shaft is threaded on both ends. So you first have to remove the cotter pin and then get the castle nut out in order to get the shaft out. I don't have a socket with a thin enough wall to reach down in there and the nut out.

I changed the bushings on my buddies 62 Dodge and the nut was smaller so I was able to spin it out after getting the cotter pin out. Now I don't know what the hell to do.

Is there a workaround that I haven't thought of yet?

Thanks,

Wayne

HI Wayne, you press the shaft out as an assy, and reinstall it assembled the same way..
Good luck . Geoff

Thanks! I found that out the hard way. Being that there's a snap ring holding them, the bushing weren't in very tight at all. When I did my buddy's 62 they were really in there. I had to weld a washer to the bushing and drive it out from the inside. These pushed right out no problem.
