I installed a new 22 gallon gas tank in our 59 Firesweep 2 yrs ago..The stock tank was 20 gallons but not reproduced. From day one the gas gauge will go to Full with a fill up but at 1/4 reading the tank is empty How can I make it accurate? Thanks.

Which sender did you use? What was the ohm range on it?

How about this? Possibly the arm and float aren't reaching the bottom of the tank when the tank is below 1/4, so when it's at 1/4 the arm may be at the bottom end of it's travel. Possibly adjust/bend the arm a little more downward. This is, of course, a guess.

Are there different senders for the different volume tanks? Factory calls the sender a "gauge".

Bending the float arm will make the gauge more accurate at EMPTY but the gauge will read FULL longer as the fuel is consumed. IOW, at FULL you might actually be at 3/4.

THE FLOAT SENDER IS THE ONE THAT CAME WITH THE NEW TANK. I THINK THE TANK IS A 23 GALLON ,NOT 22.
