Hi everyone,

I do not have direct access to my '58 Plymouth right now.
Can someone tell me what NPT size is the fitting of the power steering hose that goes into the pump ?

Thank you.

Pumps of that era don't use NPT threads per se, the pump has an inverted flare that takes a 3/8" tube with a flare nut thread of 5/8"-18.

Thanks.
In fact, my question is related to the fact that I would like to test the pressure going out of my pump.
I'd like to buy a hydraulic test kit, but I need to know which fitting might be used.

I purchased a kit manufactured by LANG Tools, p/n TU-22a. It had the fittings needed to test the pump on my 58 N/Y wagon.
However, I do not remember which fittings I used.
I also don't know if it's available in your part of the world. It say's it's made in the USA of foreign and domestic parts.

The kits I'm looking at have only UNF 7/16-20 and NPT 1/4-18.

Hi Vincent,

You should be able to get a adapter from a local hydraulic pipe firm that will do the job.

For future reference, I was able to check on an extra power steering hose I had (I completely forgot about it), and it's 7/16 UNF.
Somehow, it's strange that it's not an NPT thread (57chizler was right), but there it is.
