I would like help to decode the data tag and to verify if the vin tag is listed in the Darrell Davis book to confirm whether or not this 60 Fury is a factory Sonoramic

Mike:

Well it would appear to be a Fury V8, made in the Los Angeles plant, so that is a start. (That's all I can see - others will see more (maybe))

It really has nothing to do with the data tag, and everything to do with Darrell Davis's registry. So you need someone who has that book.
But, one thing I can say, is that the riveted VIN tag on this car is a very bad sign as to it's authenticity. Very possible that the VIN tag has been swapped over from some other car.

The black car was built in the Los Angeles plant. Does anyone have a picture of another vin tag from the Los Angeles plant showing how it is affixed to the pillar?

Does anyone know if the LA plant used rivets of the same type as shown in the photo above ( black car) or different rivets or alternatively spot welds?

For comparison I enclose a picture of vin tag from a 60 Fury ( Gold) from the Detroit Plant which is spot welded and the rivet holes are bare

The VIN tags are always spot welded on during the forwardlook years. No rivets. This is the VIN tag from my '60 New Yorker that was built in Los Angeles.

I can't tell for sure, but it looks like that Fury VIN tag may be made out of aluminum, and I don't see any evidence of a spot weld on it at all. If so, it's a replacement tag, and even more suspect, and illegal. Get it inspected, and you could end up with a mess of trouble & a police issued replacement tag.

.
SO 1104 = Scheduled on November 4, 1959
BDY 332 = Fury 2 Door Hardtop with V8 Engine
TRM 123 = Brown Vinyl and Black Cloth Inserts
PNT BB1 = Jet Black, Paint Scheme Monotone

Option «3» below «1» in the left upper corner means Left Outside Rear View Mirror with Remote Control (code 383)

Engine options for the 1960 Plymouth:

351 = Dual Exhaust
353 = Engine – Golden Commando 395
354 = Engine – Sonoramic Commando 361
356 = Engine – Sonoramic Commando 383

Looks like the optional engines does not stamp on the LA-built cowl tags…
