Hi, what does this tag tell us? Thanks, Hemi Joel

Not much.

The photo cut-off a lot of the tag and it is too small. Can you post a larger, more complete photo, so we have a better chance of finding out what the tag is saying?

56D, thanks for the reply. I see the whole photo very clearly on my computer. I'll find some other way to post it as well. The site won't let me post a phota. Can I email it to you?

That worked. Here it is again at a forum "accepted" 1024 x 768 size. Now we can start with the deciphering.

This body code tag is for a black with gold '57 Adventurer convertible. The two screws on this tag are correct, not riveted.

Thank you very much for that information. Besides the tag is there anything else I can look for to help authenticate the car?

.
According to the codes on the tag, this is 1957 model year

SCH 135 = Scheduled on 135th Day since 1957 production beginning
I have some examples where: SCH 114 = March 25, 1957 and SCH 175 = July 11, 1957;
So your car was built approximately on April 1957, I guess

SEQ 345 = 45th Adventurer scheduled / built on that day
BDY 563 = Adventurer Convertible
PNT APA = Originally Adventurer Gold Body Color with Black Sweep Insert (but on the picture of cowl tag your car is Black)
TRM 546 = Gold Vinyl and Gray Westminster Tweed Cloth – used on Adventurers only
TR (Blanc) = Torqueflite Transmission – Standard
PS 4 = Power Seat 6 Way
PB (Blanc) = Power Brakes – Standard
AH 4 = Hot Water Heater and Defroster (less factory A/C)
PW 5 = Power Windows
SS 9 = Stone Shields on Rear Quarter Panels
SPL 1832 = Special Order and Foreign Order
CS (Blanc) = Color Sweep – Standard
BG (Blanc) = your car has not factory Front Bumper Guards
A 3 = Interior Trim Group (no idea what exactly is it)
C 6 = Gold Convertible Top Color – used on Adventurers only

Hope this helps…

.
In addition to my listing:

Letters «AG» on the left edge in the middle row means Accessory Group
This space is empty on your cowl tag, so this is Accessory Group No. 1 – Standard Equipment on Adventurers ONLY

AG (Blanc) included:
Hand Brake Warning Signal
Hot Water Heater and Defroster
White Side Wall Tires
Dual Exhaust
Electric Clock
Windshield Washer
Outside Rear View Left Mirror
Prismatic Mirror
Vanity Mirror
Safety Cushion Instrument Panel
Radio Music Master (5 Push Buttons) with Rear Seat Speaker (not sure about rear speaker on the Convertibles)

The difference between AG1 (Blanc Space) and AG2 on Adventurers is in the Radios only:
AG2 consist same AG1 equipment except Radio Electro Touch Tuner (7 Push Buttons)…

Wouldn't SEQ: 345 indicate the 345th car built at that factory, that day, not necessarily an Adventurer? At least that's what I thought it indicated.
To have 345 Adventurers, or even 45 Adventurers built in one day doesn't make much sense.

This car is a clone convertible, made from a 2-dr HT. According to my notes, it's likely a Fireflite converted, not an Adventurer HT converted. Yes, 345th car built, not 345th Adventurer built, and yes, built April 1, 1957.

Thanks for all the great info. I did go ahead and buy this car. Now I would like to unravel its history. Ed is helping with that. Regarding its pedigree, it is what it is, I'd just like to know. It will be a very fun car!
