Hi all-
I have a problem with a manual master cylinder not letting fluid return fully so the brakes don't release.
New return springs all the way around.
Since there is no adjustment to the push rod, is there anything else that could be the problem?
The cylinder was rebuilt but I'm not sure what to look for.

Cheers,
chef

Maybe the residual valve, it is known to mutate to a one-way valve after 50-60+ years of use. It resides inside of your MC

Check the brake hoses and see if they are collapsing. Squeeze them and see if they are hard also. If they are old, maybe just buy the three.

Loosen the mounting bolts on the master when the brakes are tight, if they release, your problem is in the master or insufficient free play for some reason.

Being that it's a rebuilt cylinder, I'd say it's possibly defective then. Thanks for the tip :-)

I can pull the pedal towards me slightly so there is plenty of free play. The piston does fully return as well.
