Expert 5K+ Posts: 7400 Location: northern germany | Thanks for the link. Here are a couple of interesting cars (for me anyway), one a big block 60 Savoy 2 door, possible original cop car and a big block(!) 60 Pioneer coupe with the sky high option!: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FUdFovF5ZZg https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aSRaMhCNTwA&t=2s https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jU5p-u-J-6I https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cnfa1IGLD3k https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q8_ODOE6noc&t=2s https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4c7kj5WDU2M Edited by 1960fury 2021-08-22 4:48 PM

As ignorant millenials are now in the market buying old stuff, I see a bleak future for these cars, that survived all these years mostly original. Edited by 1960fury 2021-08-23 9:59 AM

As ignorant millenials are now in the market buying old stuff, I see a bleak future for these cars, that survived all these years mostly original. That is Steve Magnante, and yes he does know (mostly) what he is talking about. He was editor of Motor Trend, and he has built a few '60s Mopar-based hot rods, including altered wheelbase drag cars. He definitely knows the Chrysler products, but doesn't shy away from modifying them.

Elite Veteran Posts: 628 Location: Lubbock, TX | 60 Imp - 2021-08-23 6:56 AM Bloody Hell. The 60 Belv and the 60 Dart are nice! Steve I actually sold that car to this guy about 5-6 yrs ago. Here's a link to some photos of how it used to look. http://classiccardb.com/plymouth/41735-1960-plymouth-belvedere-2dr-... Never had any bad rust when I had it, so all those rocker issues are from being stored outdoors for 5 years. Also that paint was REALLY nice for a driver and again, he stored it outside. So sad to see that this guy was just dragging home nice cars and then letting them sit in the elements. I'll be at the auction hoping to pick up a few of these beauties and get them back on the road where they belong! ~Peter Edited by CaprockClassics 2021-08-24 12:08 AM Attachments ---------------- 1960-plymouth-belvedere-2dr-hardtop-rare-low-reserve-low-miles-1.jfif (228KB - 102 downloads) bujT95vi31LTOYuAUFXtD4eO.jpeg (89KB - 99 downloads)

Elite Veteran Posts: 963 Location: San Antonio, TX | I'm not going be able to get up there for the pre-inspection. If anyone gets a chance to share the condition of the 57 De Soto I'd like to hear. Maybe you can get the engine # for Ed Petrus. I'd like to hear about the usual suspects... rockers, floors, quarters and trunk. Data tag too if you can. Thanks. I talked to the auction house and the paperwork on that car is iffy. It will required a bonded title. Bummer

Elite Veteran Posts: 628 Location: Lubbock, TX | Sorry, didn’t see this post until I got back from the auction preview this afternoon. From what I recall, it’s a pretty complete car but has a little rust in the eyebrows and that passenger front fender got hit bad and not repaired very well. The rat turds all over the engine doesn’t bode well for engine status, and like you say, it’s a shame that almost NONE of these cars were ever titled in this guy’s name. So the line of ownership is sketchy on all of them, but this one especially is going to be an uphill battle. -Peter

Expert Posts: 4042 Location: Connecticut | For anyone complaining that there are no 50s Mopars left, I see so many solid projects in this auction that I stopped counting. And with less than a day left, y'all can score a decent Mopar for way below market value. Just arrange for shipping, or pick them up yourself. Probably the most amazing collection I've ever seen. Owen Totally agree, if a car sells for $10,000, that's $11,500 with commission, and then 6.75% on top of that puts the total at: $12,276.25

Expert Posts: 1886 | I feel like a lot of people will be buying not fully understanding the title implications in their own state. Could be a total mess. I do expect some projects to get bought that will go for crazy money. It's super remote location isn't helping that's for sure. The cars almost all being in operable, a huge pain as well. Those that outsource hauling will find it difficult to get transporters there

Expert Posts: 4042 Location: Connecticut | If the auction place was smart, they'd line up a bunch of haulers, flat bed guys, etc., looking to make some $$$ transporting cars. I'm sure more folks would be inclined to bid if they knew there was ready transport available. Ron

That's why transport is always left to the buyers. Wouldn't surprise me if some cars were sold to the 2nd highest bidder after the winner renegs or is unable to get it moved in time. They require that you sign a waiver just to get on the property. Releases them from liability if you get bit or hurt, so they're definitely wary of lawsuits. ~Peter Edited by CaprockClassics 2021-10-12 10:27 PM

Expert Posts: 2003 Location: Branson, MO | Hey Wayne, I'm of the belief that possession is 90% of ownership since he paid for it. A replacement title may be able to be gotten if the owner is seriously interested. But you may have a valid point if you still have the title and can match the serial number with the car. My guess is the "owner" would have to produce a bill of sale at least. You could make it pretty interesting if you wanted to.

Regardless if he transferred the title or not. I still get renew notices for cars I sold years ago. I just make sure the DMV knows I'm no longer responsible for them so I don't get dinged with parking tickets.

If there are three flatbed guys standing outside the property and I decide to choose Driver A, how does that make Assiter liable for damages, should something go wrong ? All Assiter would have to do is say, "Show up at our place on Thursday and you will likely have cars to haul". They aren't being hired by Assiter. They are independent transporters. Ron

Elite Veteran Posts: 628 Location: Lubbock, TX | I suppose I was quoting your original post about assiter lining up transporters out front. That would imply that assiter hired or endorsed the driver. No worries, sounds like there’s some transportation options that assiter can recommend

Expert Posts: 4042 Location: Connecticut |
Currently watching the auction live. Cars go off every 60 seconds or so. Clock resets to 30 seconds if there is a new bid in the last half minute. IMHO, this is an accurate way of determining the value of cars that are in #5 or #6 condition. I assume that all cars are bought and paid for. But considering that you have to register your credit card with them before bidding, it's pretty likely that will happen. Ron
| ||
