Hi I'm going to try and attach a pic, so wish me luck, but...
on the heater box (under hood) there is the fan to the left with a 5" or so duct pointing to the drivers side of car. The heater box in the middle has a heater duct pointing to the passenger side. There's about a 1" gap between them. I'm guessing there's supposed to be a semi-flexible union between these. what has anyone used to replace this piece?

also on passenger side of firewall there is a cable activated heat control valve. Mine has a small leak. Is there any replacements out there, or has anyone successfully modded from a more available model of car?

Lots of heater valve info, including rebuilding and/or replacing, in these threads:

thanks that's awesome. just a question, the heater control valve from volvo has that heat tube on it. I don't see one on the factory or if there's supposed to be one maybe its snapped off? Does everyone just find a way to plumb that tube into the heat box, float it in the interior, or disable it? Didn't see anything with a recommendation on that.

It's basically a small section of rubber tube that slides over both pieces.
Think short piece of inner tube.

You are looking for item 15, which is PN 1689 674.

Which you can see in this photo. Just a big rubber band. In a pinch, you could accomplish what needs to be done with black duct tape (I'll never tell):

(I just searched Hiltop Mopar, Len Dawson Mopar and Grease Monkey Garage with "1689674" and came up with nothing. You could try Andy Bernbaum, Steele Rubber, Kanter and/or Quirey/Gary Goers)

If you have not already found the rubber band, why don't you go to a tire shop and see if the have a junk inner tube (they are still used). Cut a piece out of the tube the length to suit.

Quirey should still have it. I got one from Gary Goers not long before he sold the business to Quirey.

I did not see if anyone answered you on the missing part from the fan to the heater box/plenum. It is a large and wide rubber band size piece of rubber that seals that cap. I will take a pic of mine today and send it to you. I  may have an extra one of these you can have for free, just pay postage.

John
