Recently swapped my 301 for a 291 Hemi in a '57 Belvedere. The hemi already had a custom bracket and this 3 wire GM alternator on it. The 318's generator is mounted to the exhaust manifold. Seems like it will be a lot easier to just keep this alternator on the engine. From research, it looks like I ditch all three wires from the voltage regulator, and the regulator all together. Of the three wires on the alternator, one goes directly to the battery, position 2 jumpers to the post that goes to the battery. The #1 wire (black) goes to a 12v source that switched on (key/Alt light.) I don't know where to run this wire to? I thought I would run it to the ACC portion on the key switch. Someone on the FB page said "Make sure you don't put a bigger alternator in it.
If you do, bypass the amp meter or you will melt your harness. Seen it toooo many times!" I do not have an amp meter, just a warning light. The thought of melting a harness brings me here. Where do you recommend I run the energizer wire?

The black wire (green on diagram) goes to the red wire attached to ARM on voltage regulator that goes into the firewall. This red wire goes to the "AMPS" light on the dash. So far it is charging and the light is not coming on. Notice my crude speaker wire connections in the pictures. I am pointing to where the wire was before I disconnected it and ran it directly from the alternator to the AMPS light
