Nice looking car. Would this have been made with a 392? Steve.

Since this car has left hand drive we can assume it was built to U.S. specs and later imported to Aus. It was most likely built with the 354 poly 4 bbl. engine I believe rated at 310 HP. Not sure you could get the 392 as a special order as it was supposed to be used only in New Yorker, 300D, and Imperial in 58.

Correct, just the 354 poly motor originally. Personally, I don't care for the 440 motor in there. Wrong period, and unnecessarily big. But despite the fact that this car is covered in red, that's one great looking car.

Nathan, "Just the 354 Poly", are they good engines or not good? I read that they are OK. Be a nice car with a period correct engine 392, 354 P or H. Actually other than the missing gear selector (and the floor shift) its OK with the 440 too, at least it is Chryco. Steve.

The 354 poly is a great engine. I have one in my '57 Windsor and love it. Increase the compression in '58 and it's even better.

If you want to change the car back to a more original engine, you will also need the correct transmission and probably also a driveshaft. It clearly has a newer 727 trans. which won't fit the older engines without an adapter. These parts may be very hard to find where you live.
