New User Posts: 4 | Hi all, Just picked up a 1957 Dodge Custom Royal, the 325ci Super Red Ram engine is seized. Until I have time/money to rebuild it, I want to put in a small block 360 LA engine I have sitting in my garage. What motor mounts will I need to do the swap? Any insight would be appreciated! Expert Posts: 1740 Location: Alaska | The 360 should have the mounting ears on the sides of the block and your 325 mounts should bolt up. you might have to modify the left mount because of the bolt spacing. The big question is what transmission will you use as the original trans. will not bolt to the 360. Edited by 58coupe 2021-11-01 11:37 AM

Expert Posts: 1740 Location: Alaska | No The newer LA 318-360 will not bolt up to the 61 and older trans. without some kind of after market adapter. All of the 55-61 hemi and poly engines will bolt up but not the big block without the proper factory adapter. The 350-413 will bolt up to each other but even the B and RB have a different crankshaft mounting 61 and older vs. 62 and newer. Edited by 58coupe 2021-11-02 11:56 AM

Elite Veteran Posts: 888 Location: Peoples Republic of Oregon | Thanks for the encouragement. I started this project about 10 years ago and promptly found 'zero' interest....I'll dust off the pieces if I ever find a small foundry that doesn't want my right arm as a down payment.

Elite Veteran Posts: 888 Location: Peoples Republic of Oregon | ...it took awhile to sort out the drive parts but I do have a viable solution. If you are ever in the area stop by and I'll show it to you.

Expert Posts: 1740 Location: Alaska | I have not tried but can you remove the studs in an older torque converter and install longer studs? That seems to me the first problem to solve.

Elite Veteran Posts: 888 Location: Peoples Republic of Oregon | Even if the bolt pattern was compatible, longer studs would certainly then crash into the back of the block...there is precious little room between the flange and block on post-62 engines.
