Would anyone be willing to take/send/post pictures of their radio support brackets behind the dash? I cannot find the original brackets that held my radio. I have the radio secured in the ‘front’ to the dash by the nuts behind the knobs, but it’s obvious it needs more support than that. Looks as though there were brackets that secured it to something above or below, behind the dash, that attached to studs on the side of the radio. It would help to at least know what I am looking for, and I’d rather avoid just using plumbers strap.

Thanks,

Jeffrey

Based on the two diagrams below, it looks like you could easily make the two brackets that are needed from 1/8" thick x 3/4" (or 1") wide aluminum flat bar stock from Lowes or HomeDepot.

However, it you wanted OE brackets, I would first try John at Big M Auto Dismantlers in Williams CA

http://www.bigmauto.com/

*OR* French Lake Auto Parts (FLAP) in Minnesota:

https://www.frenchlakeautoparts.com/

Both have come through for me on many occasions.

If neither have what you need (you might have to buy the complete radio with speaker to get just the brackets), then I would go with making the brackets from bar stock. I would start with mocking the brackets up for size (length) and bend angles using thick cardboard (I use cereal box cardboard a lot for such things) and then move on to the bar stock. Might take a second try to refine the "design".

Good luck
