I have a 1956 330 desoto hemi. Im looking for torque specs for the head and the proper sequence you tighten them. Also does any one no a good source to buy a head gasket. I just bought the car and one of the head gaskets is leaking the motor supposably was just rebuilt so hoping maybe it didn't get tightened correctly. Thanks for any input.

Welcome to the forum. Hope you can post some photos of your car (<250 kb (1024 x 768 works well) and no iPhone .jpegs, just .jpgs).

You should probably download a factory service manual like the 56 Chrysler FSM from MyMopar:

https://mymopar.com/service-manuals/

By consulting the 56 Chrysler and 57 Dodge D500 (hemi) FSMs, the consensus is 85 lb-ft max with the sequence shown in the pages below. You should probably drain the engine coolant and back off the bolts a bit before tightening them again.

Thanks for the response. Do you no the sequence for the firefight,or no if it's the same as the fire power. I no I've been told the parts don't interchange between the to.

Sorry, I don't "no" the sequence but I might "know" that the engine name is Fireflite (not firefight).

I don't have access to a 57 Desoto factory service manual (and I don't need one), so I provided Chrysler Firepower and Dodge D500 hemi tightening sequences, which are the same.

I thought that you would, therefore, conclude that the Desoto sequence would also be the same.

If you really need more info, I would suggest that you might want to buy the 57 Desoto factory service manual to confirm the sequence.

This could go on and on.

They're not the same, even if they sound the same.

I hate iPhones. They claim to be smart but they are not.

I have little to no patience for a machine that would correct me....on anything.

I 'think' that I have a pair of head gaskets left. Email: hemi.parts@yahoo.com

It be the engine not the car for sequence. The diagram 56D put has it. Hot heads has the gaskets: https://www.hothemiheads.com/desoto/engine_block/gaskets.html
