Veteran Posts: 111 | So it seems the hardest thing to find (so far) to begin to try to get the 57 Dodge 2 door suburban wagon with the 325 poly V-8 is the fuel pump. We have the original one from the factory on there and it looks like it is a rebuildable type. The problem I am having is I can't seem to find a rebuild kit, nor find another factory looking fuel pump. Is there any place that someone can recommend to get a rebuild kit from ? Or maybe a person who has a rebuilt one laying around? Thanks, Brian

Depends on your engine number (stamped on the block near the front, top side): Up to KDS-282555 = fuel pump = 1752 460 (or 1752460 when searching with Google, etc.) After KDS-282555 = fuel pump = 1843 359 (or 1843359 when searching with Google, etc.) There are a few out there: https://www.moparmall.com/Carter-M2502S-M2503S-M3261S-M2663S-Fuel-Pu... https://www.hiltopautoparts.com/product/nos-mopar-1957-8-hemi-desoto...

Veteran Posts: 111 | The ones in those links look different than mine. Here are some pics of what mine look like. Granted, its covered in grime but I'm hoping to pull it tomorrow and either get a part number off of it or at least get a Cater number off of it to try and find a rebuild kit. If you can find the number and it is either Stamped M-2501-S then M-2502-S the rebuild kit is PN 1752 557 like this one: https://bluestarperformance.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/12/products-... https://bluestarperformance.com/product/fuel-pump-diaphragm-repair-k... Expert Posts: 4036 Location: Connecticut | Then and Now in MA has kits as well as a rebuild service. Highly recommended. It's also highly recommended that you rebuild your original pump. Aftermarket pumps can put out too much pressure, resulting in potential damage to needle and seat. Also can cause flooding. Ron

Expert Posts: 4036 Location: Connecticut | Yours is an original Carter. Likely the one that came with the car. That's the one that you should rebuild. Don't waste your money buying expensive parts from Hilltop or Mopar Mall. A rebuild kit should cost no more than 60 from Then and Now. I did mine in less than an hour. Works great. Ron

Ron Then and Now is the place to call. There should be a number on the mounting flange or I have seen them inside where the diaphragm is. From the FSM on page234: Model M2502S is used on all V8 engines except the D500 and V8's equipped with air conditioning. Their kits are made for todays fuel. I wouldn't use the rubber bits in a NOS kit. Edited by local2Ed 2021-12-01 2:08 PM

Veteran Posts: 111 | Any idea where I should be looking on the top front side of the block? This thing is covered in so much grease and grime it’s not funny. The upside is that it seems to have preserved the engine paint very well. Lol

Veteran Posts: 111 | Part number stamped into flange is M2502SA. Also, thanks for posting the pictures of where I needed to look for the engine stamping. I looked in that area but I guess I didnt clean enough of the area off as I didn’t see it. I also had the thermostat housing and the heater hose in the way. The good news is that all the grease and grime seems to have preserved the silver engine paint in a lot of areas.

Veteran Posts: 111 | Dumb question but was the fuel pump on the motor prior to the motor being painted? Only reason why I ask is that I’m finding silver paint under the grease and grime.

If you come into this "Wishes On Wheels" video at around 15:00, I think you will see that the engine is fully assembled (and maybe dyno tested) before it is painted aluminum silver. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b6L0ykX9lPU Edited by 56D500boy 2021-12-01 6:48 PM

Veteran Posts: 111 | Cool! Thanks. I know the muscle car era of the late 60s had them assembled but delicate stuff like the spin on oil filters were added after the motors were installed.

Extreme Veteran Posts: 340 Location: Tacoma, WA | Another vote from me for Then and Now Automove. They had a kit for the pump that came on my '60 383RB, but after watching their excellent YouTube rebuilding videos I decided to send mine to them and have them rebuild it. Lisa took good care of me, good email communication, and turnaroud was VERY quick. In my case, it was $52.50 for the kit, and $105 for the kit plus rebuilding. Veteran Posts: 111 | I ordered the kit from them yesterday and got the fuel pump torn apart today. The larger diaphragm was all dried out but the smaller one was surprisingly still pliable. All set for the new stuff to come in and I’ll be one step closer to firing it up.
