After years hunting around and searching for a Forward Look I have bitten the bullet and purchased Bob's 1957 New Yorker!

It has arrived to my place in Echuca Victoria where we have started getting it ready to return to the road. I will sort some updated photos out to add to this thread.

Nice work Travis, not a bad consolation for not finding a '60!!??
The '57 NY is without a doubt one of the pinnacle FL cars in my opinion.
You scored a beauty by the looks. If I had the means I would have been all over it.
Cant wait to see more pic's and hopefully see it in person one day.

Steve.

Thanks Steve, I keep walking into the shed and have to pinch myself. Hopefully we will have it roadworthied before Christmas and start enjoying it.

That is a truly spectacular example.

Years ago, I photoshopped some customizations against an all-black '57 NYer that I found some photos of on the web. Bob confirmed that your car is the actual car in these photos.

I ended up building my car from that photoshop.

Love your car, enjoy it!

I had been chasing a 60 New Yorker for years with no luck and I honestly think that your build burnt into my brain and when this came up I had to have it. I seriously love your car and how it has turned out.

Well the roadworthy has taken a bit longer than we had hoped, awaiting suspension and body mount rubbers and some new brake hoses and we should pass. Can't wait to hit the road in this!

Still awaiting rubbers and whilst pulling up the carpets to change the body mounts I've sadly found a fair amount of fibreglass hiding very rusty floors :-(

That is very unfortunate news but once you fix it, you'll be feeling good about it and you'll have the knowledge that all is well when you're cruising down the road. Still a hell of a nice looking car!

Thanks for that, I know you are 100% correct another small speed hump in the road hopefully, looking at the rest of the car I was stunned to see the extent of the floor rust. I still do pinch myself when I see it in the shed and can't wait to hit the road in it!

Well it looks like we have opened up a big tin of worms with this one, the more we look the more rust we are finding the scariest of all is half of the body mount points are just fibreglass patches, I think if the car had been driven much it would have collapsed onto the frame. Pretty disappointing stuff as my budget was stretched to get something that was a "finished" car.

I have also had one with glassfibre over the whole floor , also the trunk floor. This is imo criminal...at least the maker should be kicked in his ass big time..

Unfortunately, quite typical for these Chryslers. Fortunately, the guy in Finland & Sweden make those floor braces so it isn't too difficult to repair.

It's certainly a lazy approach, especially where the body mounts are concerned. People who do this work are certainly not skilled tradespeople and shouldn't be allowed to touch cars.

We are on the road and have now clocked up well over 1000 miles including our recent holiday on the Great Ocean Road, we are still having a few brake issues and have discovered both the front and rear windscreens leak along with a host of other minor issues. Adding radial tyres has certainly improved the ride and handling with the car performing very well on long runs. With fuel prices here a tad crazy at least we are burning lots of it in style :-)
