Veteran Posts: 131 Location: Wyoming | I’ve seen this 9 year old post (below) about the possibility of getting 1958 Dodge trunk mats reproduced. Any idea what ever happened to the project? riclemenza - 2012-11-16 4:49 PM Ok Guys, I've been doing some homework. I am sculpting and molding a reproduction trunk mat to place back into the car.(58 Regal Lancer) It will require the time to set up the sculpture and the time to make a fiberglass mold from the sculpture. Then, I will take the fiberglass mold to NC to have it sprayed with a flexible black urethane rubberized coating. The urethane coating is much more expensive than I anticipated but there is no other alternative that I know of. I am probably going to do this whether or not anyone else wants a trunk mat. I will have well over $2000 of travel, time and materials in the first mat. If I leave the fiberglass mold with the coating place, they could make additional mats to be drop shipped for a rough estimate of $350 to $400 each. They may become cheaper if a large quantity of mats are made. These mats will look very much like the originals. Before I go off the deep end I would like to have some idea concerning the demand for the product. Let me know if you are definitely interested. Either post comments (pro or con) or send me an email. I can probably have the mold ready by the New Year.

Extreme Veteran Posts: 428 Location: McCleary WA | Here are some photos. I don't know anything about it's history or appropriateness. It was with a hoard of parts that were included when I purchased my '57 Dodge convertible in 2014. It has been rolled up in a box since 2010. It is in generally very good condition, but does have some creases from being folded up and rolled for so long. Expert Posts: 4036 Location: Connecticut | Darryl - That's either a custom made or aftermarket mat. Original mats were rubber. Ron

Extreme Veteran Posts: 428 Location: McCleary WA | After contacting the source of this mat I found out he purchased it on the advice of the late Neil Vedder, to have something rather than nothing since the correct ones were not available. He never told me it was authentic, I just assumed it was, knowing both of them to be astute collectors. My mistake. Neither of us ever took it out of the box until now. Anyway, it is sold. Expert Posts: 2003 Location: Branson, MO | I'd be interested in a generic mat that would fit all the '57 thru '61 Forward Look sedans/hardtops as long as it was rubber. It wouldn't have to be specific but just the general pattern.

I think Bill wanted one for his Adventurer so had them made, they are really nice , I bought one for mine for less than I gave for a old cracked one, he has sold quite a few in the different colours, don't know if he got his investment back though? Hardest part is trying to find a good one to make a mould from, or trying to get someone to loan there's and transporting it without damage.

Send Bill Adams a message on here, is user name is hemiviper588 The Desoto mat is the same size as a Dodge , the mould could probably be altered to remove the Desoto name from it?

Expert Posts: 2003 Location: Branson, MO | Thanks Paul it worked. I sent Bill a message and he had one left. It is for a DeSoto which is what I need anyway but there are no plans for future production of any kind.

Expert Posts: 2003 Location: Branson, MO | There probably is a market for Plymouth and Dodge mats but I don’t think Bill is interested in making them. At least from what I gathered. The last one I’m getting isn’t perfect as there are some wrinkles but can’t be any worse than what I have. And maybe the wrinkles will work themselves out when placed in position for awhile. We’ll see - I’m just glad to get one.
