Anyone think of something they want molded?

Im going to mold the 57 D500 (in order to make a DXXX molding of whatever i want, and the regal lancer(so they can be made gold)

They can be chrome painted.

I was also thinking about the 58 Plymouth fury fender ornaments. I was also thinking about making the fin antennas... They would be instantly ready for chrome painting and perfect.

57/58 ‘Sportsman’ scripts would be great. Tough to rechrome and extremely difficult to find in decent condition.

I wish I knew how to make new reproduction items . I'd make  my own things.

  • The '58 Fuel Injenction emblems (maybe you have already done those).
  • The spinner wheel cover center emblems for a '58 Adventurer - I know these things are plastic, but maybe a mold of the backing we could fill in with paint and then cover with liquid plastic could be possible
  • 58 Dodge spring special front medallions
  • "Custom" scripts for 58 Dodge spring specials (very limited market)
  • Texan emblems for 58 Dodges - actually all the Texan emblems!
  • All the D500 emblems
  • 58 Chrysler New Yorker side emblems
  • 57 - 58 Lancer spears and shields have gone bananas on eBay
  • 58 Fireflite fender buttons (complex without the emblems and probably a very limited market)
  • Small spears and shields for the 58 Custom Royal glove box door
  • 57 -59 Convertible removable sun visor hardware (there actually could be a good market for those)

I've been looking for the Sportsman scripts too!

Do you intend to make plastic items? In that case there is going to be a lot of trying. To get the air out of the studs is going to be difficult. At least it was for me.
The mold making isn`t straightforward either..there is a lot of different compounds of silicone to choose between.

I am going to try

regal lancer
58 Plymouth fender ornaments
Shark antenna bases(maybe)
Desoto Sportsman
Maybe shield/spear(would have to mold with metal rod down the middle.
57 D500, I already have the 58 mold

thats plenty for now. I will be trying some lenses also. 60 Imperial tail light and reverse light lense

I think you are right, Mike - the Texan stuff is too tight a market.  Most of our stuff is!

okay so

Sportsman emblem
57 D500
Regal lancer
Lancer spear if I have enough molding material
58 Plymouth fender ornaments(these are some big molds).

First shot at Antennas(just messing to see how that goes). If I have enough

Some things i already have molded are the
58 D500
58 Fury
1960 truck dodge on hood(big dodge on side) I found a nos one and molded it before I sold.

I have done some but that was while I was building my dodge. I made a mold for the
speedo bezel (surround) for the 60 plymouth dash and did one cast from it.
I had problems with air bubbles and the mold leaking but it did mostly work.
I wasnt using the resin (plastic) that I would actually use if I made the part to sell as it was quite brittle.
I used what I was going to make lenses out of.
I recently found the mold and once I finish cleaning out my garage, I will have another go at it.
As for chroming, if I do make any to sell, it will be up to the buyer to do that if they want, or maybe chrome paint

not really, a mold is much easier and faster and can handle the detail.

Some things are usable.
