| It seems that from the factory there are no exhaust manifold gaskets used. My exhaust manifolds’ port surfaces, are in poor shape from being run by the PO for a period of time with some broken studs. This resulted in a rough, pitted port surface. Would exhaust gaskets work in this instance. I will be running a straight edge also to check for flatness. |

Unless you are getting both surfaces skimmed flat, use the gaskets, they may look flat but will be slightly warped, just put this one on a flatbed sander to show,

| Thanks for the tip. One more thing, factory service manual says to torque 30ft.lbs. Would I be assuming correctly that I should torque a little more since I will be crushing gaskets? |

Location: Peoples Republic of Oregon | The amount of applied torque is generally determined by the bolt diameter, in your case, 3/8" diameter. 30lbs is a good number with the gasket. |
