Phil: They feel seized in some way because they are in need of lubrication and exercise. There is a pivot and a spring involved at the bottom and a pivot at the top.

If you were in NAmerica, I would tell you to use Liquid Wrench, PB Blaster or Kroil to spray those areas and then, after waiting an hour or so, to start manually but gently moving the vent window and then spraying, soaking and exercising until things come free. Be gentle do not force anything.

WD40 could work but the above are better for this. You can try this:

https://www.amazon.co.uk/pb-blaster/s?k=pb+blaster (not sure what PLUS GAS is but maybe that is the UK equivalent to my suggestions (??))

Diagram of the parts below. I have my driver's door vent window and vertical bar out of my car at the moment and can take detailed photos if you need them.

Thanks David I will try penetrating oil I have plus gas , I cannot see how the top swivel is connected so a couple of photos of top and bottom swivel would be great as I do not want to break them . I imagine it is some sort of pin on the glass frame
Cheers Phil

Phil: You have guessed right about the upper pivot re: pin. The pin is attached to the frame and it fits in a simple metal bracket. That is where things could get ugly if there is rust. Be gentle.

The lower pivot is quite robust. The spring is there to create some resistance to opening and closing (and staying in one selected spot).

See below (taken a few minutes ago - I see that I need to lubricate my upper pin some more):

Great photos and a great help ,I was wrongly assuming the top pivot was right at the top of the frame in the centre now I can clearly see the top pivot point and where to lubricate and ease it ,great help David thanks very much Phil

Hi I struggled to get lubrication to the top quarter light pivot / swivel so I drilled a 4mm hole in the door frame adjacent to the top of the swivel this allowed me to spray directly onto the swivel and now they are free after some persuasion
Cheers Phil

Seems extreme Phil but I guess you had to do what you had to do.
Once things are working fine, you might want to consider
a way to plug the hole you drilled to prevent water from getting down there.

Nothing broke = success

Hi David the holes are at 90% on the section of door frame next to weatherstrip so when the door is shut nothing is visible I have plugged with a rubber grommet style plug this is easily removable to allow lubrication to the top pivot in the future ( should have been oem ha ha )
Cheers Phil
