I had a couple of destroyed luxury caps dodge 1957 in a corner and kind of like the poverty caps better. It took me an hour to straighten it a little and cut it in two pieces..
I haven`t decided yet if I am going to sacrifice four good luxury caps and make a full set of poverty ones. It actually is almost impossible to notice they are homemade
if you don`t know it. This one is welded with my mig and it would of course be better with a tig.
The reinforcement wire has to be exactly right length or the cap won`t stay tight on the rim.

There are a set for sale on Ebay right now if you would like to purchase them. https://www.ebay.com/itm/163670376279

I've thought about doing something similar with other caps that can't be purchased. But I was thinking of cutting the cap a little big and using a bead roller to roll the lip back up. I don't have space to place a bead roller, so my idea has to wait until I get a bigger place.
