Are there gaskets for the door handles, lock, etc on a 57 Plymouth? The reason I ask is I have a fragment of a gasket from the trunk lock, but not on the door handles and door locks. If there are no gaskets is there anything to prevent leaks, or is that just part of the problem with these cars? If there are gaskets where do you get them?

Thanks for your help!

I've asked the same question. One answer is, in contrast with the trunk, which is supposed to be dry, the doors were never intended to be dry. That's why the bottom of the door has weep "holes".

You can add a door handle gasket (that you would make) to protect the paint but the door itself will still get wet inside, in the rain, because the "cat's whiskers" do not hold water back. They leak. By design.

Keep those door drains clear!!!

Thanks. That answer makes sense. Later models had gaskets but probably was to protect the paint. I might try to make a thin gasket to protect the paint.
