Expert 5K+ Posts: 9604 Location: So. Cal | I recently acquired this '54 Dodge 241 engine (D502 stamping) along with some 315 poly heads & exhaust manifolds. I am in the process of tearing the motor down, so I am willing to sell off parts if you need them. The bellhousings are also for sale, though I would like to know what they each fit. The transmissions are different from each other. Does anyone recognize them? I also have 2 water pumps. I believe the one on the left is from a 270 truck. I have no idea what that exhaust manifold at the bottom left fits. Anyone know? I would guess flathead Ford, but I am just guessing. The distributor shown here is for a straight 6, but I have a bunch of the early hemi versions for sale too. The hemi heads in the picture are not for sale, but I would appreciate any help with how to remove those spark plug tubes as they are stuck solid in there. Heat didn't seem to work on them, but it's hard to really heat it well enough to make a difference. Expert 5K+ Posts: 9604 Location: So. Cal | Thanks. I was talking about the mounting patterns on the bellhousings. I would like to know which transmissions they would work for.

Expert Posts: 1739 Location: Alaska | The upper bell looks like for your 241 used up to about 55 and appears to be double drilled for auto and truck trans. The lower one looks like a later unit used from 56 on after Chrysler went to the side engine mounts.

Expert 5K+ Posts: 9604 Location: So. Cal | The carb came in a box labeled: '57 Dodge truck 315. I can't find any numbers on it, but it does look like the carb on my '57 truck, except mine uses an automatic choke, and this carb is setup for for a manual, cable operated choke. Funny though because my truck has the cable with a broken piece of carburetor on the end of it, so I might have swapped in the choke at a later date, but I can't remember now. I don't think that it has been rebuilt, so not sure why it was in the box. But it seems to be in good shape.

Expert 5K+ Posts: 9604 Location: So. Cal | Yes, the bottom part of the coil bracket is the same piece as the spring perch.

Expert 5K+ Posts: 9604 Location: So. Cal | It looked like it was one piece, but after taking it apart, the spring mount is a separate part that the coil bracket sits on. Do you still want it?
