Expert 5K+ Posts: 9855 Location: Lower Mainland BC | . The "problem" with the stock steering wheel are a) it is splined (and the splines are very fine) and b) despite the splines, there is only one position that works, i.e. no "clocking" the wheel to compensate for a bad alignment setting (the steering wheel has to be centered via the alignment/toe in/out process, no hacks). http://www.forwardlook.net/forums/forums/thread-view.asp?tid=66299&... Here is one source of new pedals: https://www.moparmall.com/1955-1956-Plymouth-Dodge-Pedals-p/yg-88109... A peek inside a 55/56 Dodge steering wheel (you can just barely see that wide, centering, gap in the splines): Edited by 56D500boy 2022-03-22 3:15 PM

Not sure about the shipping time or cost to the UK. I would cut away the arms and ring on this one: Edited by 56D500boy 2022-03-23 6:45 PM (56DodgeCustomRoyalSteeringWheelRenewal_1_TheOriginalSteeringWheelThatCameWithMyCar.jpg) Attachments ---------------- 56DodgeCustomRoyalSteeringWheelRenewal_1_TheOriginalSteeringWheelThatCameWithMyCar.jpg (189KB - 123 downloads)

If we can find one for Phil, I won't have to cut up my steering wheel core for him to adapt.

Expert Posts: 3768 Location: NorCal | "Back in the day", you could purchase a steering wheel adapter for just about any car. Unless you can find one you'll have to build your own as suggested using the original hub from the wheel. Here's an installation on my '57 NY using a factory hub and lots of lathe work on aluminum billet. Expert 5K+ Posts: 9604 Location: So. Cal | Apparently the tooling at Grant was broken and they stopped making it. http://www.forwardlook.net/forums/forums/thread-view.asp?tid=19933 If it were me, I would make the aluminum piece that I wanted, with the hole sized slightly small. Then cut the shaft off an old steering column to use as a broaching tool. Heat up the aluminum very hot, and hammer the column into it. Do it again cold until it slides on properly. But I almost threw this adapter away, until I realized that *someone* out there might actually want it. That's how much I value trying to put an ugly aftermarket wheel on my car. My '69 Corona came with an aftermarket wheel, and I have left it, mostly because it matches the dash & shifter handle. But otherwise, I would have thrown it out as soon as I could put on an original one.

Expert 5K+ Posts: 9855 Location: Lower Mainland BC | . Phil: I cut up my spare 56 Dodge steering wheel core this afternoon. See below. You get the middle bit. Weight in a small cardboard box is about 600 gm. Canada Post says the cheapest rate for the item in a box 13 cm x 14 cm x 6 cm is about $25 Canadian for surface. The cheapest air mail rate is about $48 Canadian. I've emailed you with this info. Let me know. I can probably get it off tomorrow. NOTE: You will have to reuse the signal light cancelation tab because I already robbed it for my steering wheel. (A black rubber one that I filled and painted). "Only" 2.5 months or so. LOL. Remember that you will need to steal the cancellation ring and horn slip ring off your original steering wheel and swap it onto this "new" hub.
