Looking to upgrade our headlights in our 57 Dodge 2 door suburban wagon. Wondering if anyone has used these plug n play headlights or heard anything about them. I know it says Kenworth tractor in the eBay add but it’s the same 7” round light like was used in the factory, only in a plastic housing and led bulb.

https://www.ebay.com/itm/Pair-7-Inch-Round-LED-Headlights-Sealed-Hi-...

Thanks for your input.

Those are pretty UG A LEE in my opinion. (Just my opinion)

What you might want to consider is European 7" H4 housings that accept separate halogen or LED bulbs.

I installed LED headlight bulbs in European H4 housings from California Imports (for VWs) (very inexpensive for the housings). They fit in the OE head light buckets quite well (no modifications needed with the bulbs I chose).

My thread:

http://www.forwardlook.net/forums/forums/thread-view.asp?tid=70107&...

DelS (Dels56) used a better Hella brand H4 with LEDs and I like it a lot.

This my H4 housing:

This is what DelS is running:

It hurts just to see a photo of those modern headlights.

Ok. Thanks a lot. I read some of the other discussions on the ones where you have to modify the back of the headlight bucket area and I’d prefer to have to do no cutting so I don’t mess up the fender.

I’ll check out that thread now.

56D500,

I looked everywhere in your thread that you posted and I don't see any response from DelS about his light or what part number that might be or how I go about getting two of those.

I believe DelS used Aukee LEDs. Something like these:

https://www.amazon.ca/Aukee-headlight-Lumens-Extremely-Conversion/dp...

The headlights I used were made for EMPI of VW fame:

https://www.cip1.ca/acc-c10-7590/

The place where I bought them also has European ones for quite a bit more money:

https://www.cip1.ca/c24-baa-941-751-a/

Here is an example of the Hella H4 headlights:

Holley just released a retro looking LED headlight that is street legal. (not that anyone cares about that any more) Frieburger has them on the WW2 Jeep that he and Rick Pewe are currently driving from Arizona to Key West. They give them good feedback.

56D500 - What leb bulbs are you using? I know you said that your heat sinks fit in the opening really well and I'd like to use them also.

I had followed the lead of BigBlockMopar:

https://www.bigblockmopar.nl/2018/04/led-headlights/

Sorry, now I can't find the cheap ($30/pair) Chinese ones (the ones in the black "LED Headlight" box) on eBay now (4 year later) but I know the expensive "SuperNova" bulbs from the USofA also fit in the housing because I said this back in December 2018:

"The photos below have the cheaper Chinese H4 LED bulb in the passenger side and the expensive SuperNova Retina-burning LED in the drivers side. One low beam photo and one high beam photo. Both me and my car enthusiast neighbour like the cheap Chinese LEDs better. None of the photos show what reality is actually like."

That said, they look like these ones:

If there was any info on the empty "LED HEADLIGHT" box (which I had in my hand 30 minutes ago), I would have searched it and found a good link for you already.

But there was nothing to search

The closest thing I have now is the info from BigBlockMopar's LED headlight install (link above), which is

"CSP H4 9003 HB2"

Searching that yields a range of options, including this one:

The search "CSP H4 9003 HB2": https://www.google.com/search?client=firefox-b-d&q=CSP+H4+9003+HB2

You might have missed that external ballast box that they sneak into the photo. Plus they are killer 6500 Kelvin. Way too white. Folks will hate you.

Price is okay but I don't think that they will work for a Forward Look car.

I wish I could find a link to the ones that I am running so you don't have to try re-inventing the wheel. The link that I provided above looks like the ones that I bought 4 year ago.

Not these:

That one has a lot of "bootie". Might be too long to fit in the OE headlight bucket without some metal cutting.

Just make sure that you order the H4 version. Looks very much like the ones I (and BigBlockMopar) used.

Good luck.

Appears that I was on Amazon CA (Canada). I just searched for the same thing in the USA on the regular Amazon web site and found it to be $6 cheaper. I should be getting them and the Hella H4 headlight housings both on Friday.

Hi fellows, my wife and i have been away for the winter and i have not keep up on your postings. I did use The Hella housings and Aukee LED bulbs which i purchased on Amazon.ca. They are a plug and play which fit very nicely in the headlight bucket. I will try to find the info on these and add that to this thread later. The bulbs pictured above would not fit in the 56 headlight bucket.

We are back home and have access to my files.
I will try to attach some slides on my headlight LED conversion.

I did not do a page on aiming the headlights as this was done outside at night. Tis is how I did this part.
Backed the car off my hoist out side and measured a distance from the garage door to the face of the headlights. Then leveled it with block under wheels. I marked a center and horizontal lines on the door with masking tape and an ink marker. Then adjusted the lights to focus on these marks.
