Veteran Posts: 143 Location: Denver, Colorado, USA | I'm looking for a 1957 - 1961 three-speed TorqueFlite pushbutton shifter mechanism, bezel, and housing similar to the one pictured, which happens to come from a truck. They made a few different button configurations depending on the division, but I'm interested in any of them with this style housing. Please let me know if you have one. Thanks.

Expert 5K+ Posts: 9855 Location: Lower Mainland BC | . That particular housing was unique to the 57-59(ish?) trucks. The 56 Imperial comes close but it might only have 3 full sides: My 56 Dodge Powerflite housing worked for a 56 vintage early Torqueflite shifter box with that "LoadFlite" truck faceplate, but it only has three sides: eBay has a NOS early Torqueflite shifter box (sans housing and buttons) but you won't like the cost: Edited by 56D500boy 2022-03-30 8:20 PM

Veteran Posts: 143 Location: Denver, Colorado, USA | Thanks. The 1956 Dodge and Chrysler unit would work since it's going into a 1956 Dodge. I'm less concerned about the housing design since I already have the '56 Dodge housing. My understanding is that the trucks used this style bezel/mechanism through 1961. I came across that NOS mechanism on ebay a while ago. I can nearly buy a parts car for that price :P

Not sure exactly what you are doing but you might want to review this shifter housing nightmare that I posted a while ago: http://www.forwardlook.net/forums/forums/thread-view.asp?tid=70969&... That grooved faceplate was basically exclusive to the LoadFlite trucks. The shifter mechanism, not so much. http://www.forwardlook.net/forums/forums/thread-view.asp?tid=70397&...

Veteran Posts: 143 Location: Denver, Colorado, USA | I'll take a look at your thread. I'm going from the original 2-speed PowerFlite to a 3-speed 1962 - 1965 TorqueFlite and want to retain the original shifter console. I'll then be adding a 1961 Polara style parking lever under the dash to the left of the column.

If you are going early aluminum case 727, there is a way/combo that uses the pre-62 parking brake (drum) on the tailshaft of the transmission. I think that you need an adapter plate to mate the trans to the engine. I saw all the things that needed to be done and went A-466 cast iron torqueflite. Here are the hints that I suggested after I got done. Some of them, including the rear crossmember, might help you: http://www.forwardlook.net/forums/forums/thread-view.asp?tid=73638&...

The engine is a 390 stroker I'm building out of a 1963 A318, so the transmission bolts up. Now I just need to find a 3-speed shifter mechanism and bezel to go into the '56 Dodge housing.
