I previously used this product to seal the rubber gasket on my car's vent windows to the door frame. I liked it because it sealed nicely and dried to a dull(ish) finish. I know that I could use black silicone sealant but it will dry shiny and look like sealant. When the urethane dried/cured, it looked like rubber, which is what I wanted.

After not finding it local chain stores (including NAPA), I contacted Permatex directly and found out that they have discontinued the product. They offered me no substitutes.

Any non-silicone suggestions?

What about the 3M weatherstrip adhesive? I used it on my 1940 dodge windshield weatherstripping. I also used it to seal any imperfections. It is essentially liquid rubber. Super sticky, but it does not clean up well if you goof.

The number one source for that stuff is through boat parts & repair supply stores. Check them out near you. It is an very necessary part of boat repairs.

50 Year warranty. LOL.

There are 12 tubes in stock 10 minutes away at my local RONA (think Lowes).

Used the DAP black Polyurethane adhesive/sealant today to install my driver's door vent window (and window channel frame). Having a large(r) tube of sealant in caulking gun with a small tip cut was much more controllable than the previous 80 mL Permatex urethane sealant tube and nozzle that I used last time (4? 5? years ago).

Now the trick is to find out how long it takes for the DAP product to skin over and become tackless to the touch.

You must have missed this at the beginning of the thread:

I have a tube of Permatex black silicone but I want a more rubber-like solution for sealing the rubber on the vent window frame to the door frame.

Thanks.
