I didn't think 4bolt covers were ever very expensive, at least they aren't now. Here is one on Ebay for $70, and even that seems high to me.

I have plenty of those, nothing rare about them. The '58 flat top ones are the only ones I'd call desirable.

Agreed, I'd say even the flattops are only vaguely desirable to someone who wants a perfectly accurate 1958 motor, most guys are fine using the 1959-63 covers. That being said, if a guy's only set are smashed all to hell and he needs a pair of valve covers super quick, I'd say they'd be worth $200-300 tops and only if they're straight, clean and unmodified. Always worth having an extra set around.
