Powerflite is not rare. Once I let a 60 Desoto coupe pass, because it had PF. Later it was scrapped.

I wonder what his asking price is? My 24000 mile '59 Firesweep 4 door sedan was advertised at $39000 when he had it for sale a couple of months ago. It sold but I don't know how close it came to $39000.

This car is fairly comparable but mine had the factory original style Coker WWSW Goodyear Supercusions at all four corners as well as the matching spare. Also it had the Torqueflite transmission.

How he gets all these cream-puffs is just about a miracle to me.

"FOR SALE: 1960 DESOTO FIREFLITE

20K original miles, spectacular survivor class, straight rust-free body, beautiful factory original interior, outstanding chrome, trim and details inside and out, power steering and brakes, peppy 361ci engine, pushbutton Powerflite transmission, original keys and spare, quick and tight ride. Rare find.

MORE … about this 1960 DeSoto …

LOW-MILEAGE: Driven just 20K miles, this has to be among the finest low-mileage 1960 DeSoto’s in existence.

ORGINAL TRI-TONE INTERIOR: To find any classic car with a factory original interior as well preserved as this is RARE. Even rarer when it’s black and white paired with raspberry red , a rare and stunning color by automotive standards.

JET BLACK is a striking finish on any car … and makes this DeSoto seem almost presidential!

QUICK AND TIGHT RIDE: At every speed this is a great driving car. The 361 engine has plenty of extra pep. The Powerflite transmission is surprisingly responsive. That, combined with the extraordinary agility of the torsion bar suspension makes for a thrilling driving experience superior to any 1960 GM or Ford product.

MORE than a classic car … MORE than mid-century modern masterpiece, this 1960 DeSoto is a WORLD CLASS NATIONAL TREASURE!

About 1960 DeSotos …

FORWARD LOOK: The 1960 DeSoto is in a distinctive and desirable class of classic cars manufactured by Chrysler Corporation between 1956 and 1960 promoted as “CARS OF THE FORWARD LOOK.”

SPACE AGE STYLE: Inside and out, from every angle, the out-of-this-world design of the 1960 DeSoto is a supreme example the most extraordinary era of American automotive styling.

BEST TAILIGHTS EVER: Both in scale and style, 1960 DeSoto taillights win the prize for most extreme taillights of the space age era … and extra points for that trio of boomerang highlights.

PUSHBUTTON CONTOLS: The transmission and climate controls are easily engaged with the ultra-modern convince of pushbuttons.

1960 was the FINAL full year of DeSoto production. In 1961 Chrysler Corp discontinued the marque."

Power brakes?  Didn't these have the bellows type boosters?  Where is it?

About 15 years ago there was a beautiful 60 Fireflite coupe with only 20 or 24 K miles. Nicknamed Desire or Desi, IIRC. It was perfect and with much nicer more period colors. Pale yellow/white, IIRC. I believe it was the subject of talk here. Always wondered what happened to it. Never saw it again. Not even pictures in the www.

No power brakes and it had at least a cosmetic restoration. Pristine paint on the intake manifold heat crossover after 62 years? And I don't think the engine looked that nice from the factory. Arm rest vinyl is sewn not molded. I would like to see the brake pedal now.

Yeah, I'd wager some serious money that every single surface under the hood has been restored. No way the inner fender panels are perfect condition, the radiator support scratch-free and the firewall impeccable. I get that you can detail these cars and get them super clean, but when I see flawless paint on a 62yr old engine bay, I smell a refurbishment. Not that there's anything wrong with that, but be upfront about it, it's pretty obvious....

I've seen and driven this car. Yes, the car has been refreshed under the hood, but done with all the details of originality. It drives like a 20k mile car. Tight, firm and no rattles. Runs and shifts great.
The inside door arm rests were restored by stitching new covers. The originals always shrink and split at the seems and look awful. A special car for sure.
