Elite Veteran Posts: 1018 Location: Milwaukee Wisconsin | I'm restoring a 59 dodge cr .. this is a question for any of the owners of one or . the question is >>>> just below the trunk lid there is a long thin 1" wide moldings ..... which way is the correct way to install ? is the Thin side up or the wider area up ? the molding has a little curl upward on the ends to fit under the tailights extrudes ... one edge along the length of molding is wider than the other that is what I am refrering too. I tried looking at pictures but can't get a close up .Thanks ! Elite Veteran Posts: 1018 Location: Milwaukee Wisconsin | On this car it appears that the molding has the wider edge to the top. (00517.jpg) Attachments ---------------- 00517.jpg (120KB - 93 downloads)

That is the question . I went through this with my 56 Dodge Custom Royal. I ended up with the thinner edge up but that put the ends in a drooping configuration. Having seen this thread, I think I did it wrong. Fatter edge up and the ends mimicking the corner curve of the trunk lid will look better (to me). Maybe that is the key point, no one really cares (well except maybe Serge). Either way, it will look good. Mine, as it stands:

Expert Posts: 1208 Location: SWITZERLAND | From Dave "Serge: Your 59 Dodge CRL expertise is needed on the Forward Look." Thanks Dave for your kind attention, always in service to FWL members!
Taking take a closer look there are some decisive points to find out the correct direction of the molding: 1. Checking horizontal with a straight profile, the molding is slightly bent 2. The curved ends may not fit exactly in the wrong direction 3. A practical aspect: on top view this molding will better hide the gap between bumper and body (only 1959 Dodge)
Thus, the sense of Ron is absolute correct, as on my CRL: Thin side up. - SERGE - ;)
