| Has anyone measured the brake pedal ratio on a 56 Dodge Custom Royal Lancer manual Brakes.? I think all trim levels should be the same. I did not measure when I had everything apart. Now it is a little difficult to measure. What I get Is 5 : 1

Location: NorCal | 6-1 is a common manual brake ratio, '57 and later are 8-1...never measured a '56. |

Location: So. Cal | I just realized that I pulled the manual pedal assembly out of my '56 Belvedere that I could measure. I also recently purchased a '55 power brake setup and have a '56 power pedal as well. So here are the results:
Pedal arm length from pivot to pad mount: 12 1/8" (all '55-'56 are the same length, regardless)
Manual brake pivot to pushrod length: 1 5/8"
'56 Power brake pivot to pushrod length: 2 3/4"
'55 Power brake pivot to intermediate arm: 1 5/8", Intermediate arm to 2nd pivot: 1 1/4" (currently hard to measure), 2nd pivot to pushrod: 4 5/8"
Therefore the pedal ratios are:
'55-'56 Manual brakes: 7.46:1
'56 Power brakes: 4.4:1
'55 Power brakes: 2.02:1 Dismal!
Note that '56 cars with manual transmissions also used the '55 power brake setup.

| Thanks for doing the measuring. I am designing a rear disc brake conversion and need to determine the master cylinder size.
