Veteran Posts: 174 Location: Phoenix, AZ | Back in 2006-2013 I had several posts on my long term project of installing a Viper V10, Tremic 6sp trans, and Dana 60 in my 59 Belvedere Sedan. It has taken a long time but wanted to share a post on YouTube about the car in case there are any folks with long memories who wondered how it ever turned out. It is actually a reliable car that doesn't leak a drop, never overheats in AZ 115 degree summers, and gets about 20mpg on the freeway. I have had it to the local drag strip four times and it turns low 13s which isn't bad considering I am not that good at getting off the line. It is easy to service and so far I have not had to replace any parts. All the time up front with planning has really paid off. I did all the work except for mounting the engine, the paint job, and the interior installation. So for anyone planning a big project like this it is possible if you have lots of patience and it is a labor of love. https://youtu.be/S9gGJsOQba0 Jim

Veteran Posts: 174 Location: Phoenix, AZ | Thanks for the kind comments! I always wanted to post an update but didn't have the skill to do it until I met the "If This Car Could Talk" folks at a local car show. Back when I was starting this project I got a lot of inspiration and advice from people on this forum. There was a point early on when I wondered if I had bitten off more than I could chew with the project, but then just took it one part at a time and kept moving along until I decided that the car really would work and was worth completing. The old Plymouth is really fun to take to shows as there are usually other builders with lots of questions and I can talk a long time about every little piece of the car from why it was chosen to how I got it to work. The one priority I did follow through with the entire build was to keep every possible part Mopar and use a minimum of aftermarket parts. I believe that is why it is so reliable and doesn't drip a drop anywhere. The entire drive train and even the electric cooling fan are all Mopar items. The paint colors and interior are period correct Mopar. All the engine accessories including the AC compressor are stock Viper but the interior box is Vintage Air. It still has the original torsion bar suspension up front. I have had it up to 115 mph at the local drag strip with two more gears to go, and the handling and brakes worked just fine. The fellow who mounted the motor and builds funny cars told me I should take it to the Salt Flats to see how fast it would go but I wouldn't want to be the one to test the aerodynamics of a Forward Look car when it gets over 135mph. So for now I am satisfied with just enjoying it and doing the routine maintenance.
