Any tips on the best way to change oil on a 56 desoto with a
330 Hemi?
Issue is leaking around the stock (medieval) oil filter, can’t get it to stop. Tried 3-4 times now.

Also tried a few aftermarket spin on adapters (Hot head hemi, etc) and none of them fit or have filter clearance from the motor.

Just can’t get a good seal on the canister.

Thanks

I presume that your canister shell is not nicked or warped and that you have a new gasket for the bottom of the external canister where is contacts the OE filter adapter?

I installed a Hot Heads spin-on adapter and a WIX filter with only a few minor issues:

Thanks 56D. Gasket seems to be installed correctly. Upon further inspection it appears to be leaking from the top part of shell where the bolt goes. I have a bronze washer between the bolt and shell and will double check the fit.

Not enough clearance on my motor for the hot heads adapter but I will check out the thread.

Usually the 30 degree upward angled adapter fits without issue in our cars.

That is what I used. Works. Next oil change I am going to try a WIX 51515 (about 5" tall compared to the 51085 (about 4" tall) that I used)

Any idea where I can get a replacement shell and washer that goes between the bolt and shell?

typically you need the OEM up angle one HH sells to clear the torsion bars on those with them.
