called  to order carpet from stock interiors  for my 59 dodge 4 drht  and they told me they don't make that patter.   Has anyone had the same issues.  That's hard to believe that  the thousands of 4 door hardtop mopars running around can't find  carpet.  what's up with stock interiors.     Are they associated with ACC carpet?

It appears their carpet does not have the cut out for the post ( which can be cut out ) and most of all it needs another 2-3" more of material for the step up to the door sills plates. see pic .

I spoke to the guy who purchased Gary goers store at Carlisle, he had the correct material for the 300 interior. The color may be an issue but if you can get in touch with him, he can probably do something for you.
The carpets they sell around are just hit or miss according to the comments I seen in here, sedans and hardtops are not in the most popular list of cars been restored in the minds of the reproduction market, sad but true...

Added to the 59 model run curiosities, the 59 Imperial hardtop and the sedan had the SAME floors pattern with the post included.

First off, in my experience (not all good), ACC supplies the carpet set that you might order from Stock Interiors. When I was putitng new carpet in my 56 Dodge 4 dr sedan, I ended up ordering from Stock Interiors and when the box arrived it was an ACC box, with an ACC packing slip, i.e. a "drop" ship.

There were some issues but Stock Interiors was very good and fixed the problem (they even paid for the shipping on the piece that I had to return).

That story (read later):

http://www.forwardlook.net/forums/forums/thread-view.asp?tid=66208&...

4 dr hardtops have a massive "L"-shaped "B" pillar base because the base has to be cantilvered off the body floor since there is no other means of attachment (the roof in a 4 dr sedan and the rear body in a 2 dr hardtop). The 4 dr hardtop pillar is sitting there like the Eiffel tower, all alone. See example photos below using a 57 Chevy 4 dr hardtop as a stand-in for a 56-59 Mopar.

As result, because a 4 dr sedan has a comparatively slim "B" pillar, the carpet folks will give you more carpet than you need for a 4 dr hardtop in the area of the "B" pillar. Easily fixed with judicious trimming during the install.

Example 4 dr sedan carpet install (even then some minor trimming was required):

Example 4 dr hardtop "B" pillars from DD Speedshop's 57 Chev 4 dr hardtop to 2 dr convertible video:

I called ACC .. auto custom carpets inc they told me they do not make any carpets for any 57-59 mopar 4drht models. so stock interiors must have another source where they are get there carpets from. anyone know ?

I obviously wasted my time trying explain that carpet for a 4 dr sedan would likely work with some trimming.

That said, I went to the ACC website and found some 2 dr options that might work for you (with some adjustments). The 1957 and 1958 options might be a problem at the sides of the back piece. The 1959 set looks to be molded which I think would be a bonus. Some trimming might be required.

John, what apparently few people realized, to this day is that the original carped was like a quilt made of carpet. It was something very pliable and it could be stretched and wrapped to the floors valleys and humps but it had a physical limit and wrinkles will form in some areas. The bottom of the carpet material was made of a flexible fabric and not like an almost solid plastic like those you can buy at home depot.

Quirley had that special material, and he told me "how are you going to make a carpet fit if you don't use this flexible material?" I also ask him about molded carpet and he said " to mold a carpet you must melt some kind of hard plastic carpet base in it, like the modern car has, and that's is not the way they did it". Apparently he was unaware of others sellers selling us cardboard base with some hair on top as a carpet.

I'm absolutely sure that the factory had general carpet roll that the factory workers just trim to fit and then glued the small rubber pad on top of it.

The company that makes the carpet for stock interiors is called Newark . They adjusted my carpet for my 59 dodge 4 dr ht so it will fit like a Glove . Great bunch of people ! note : you still have to go thru stock interiors or other companies that sell there product.
