Location: CA | Nice car and a cool story but, "this may be the most barebones ’58 Chrysler ever built."???? Power steering, deluxe wheel, power brakes, heater, 4bbl w dual exhaust, probably torqueflight, full wheelcovers, possibly a clock and that is barebones? LOL Hyperbole much.. It's only a radio delete car.. not exactly a barebones IMO.. Neat car and story but boy stow the need to exaggerate... |

Location: So. Cal | Not to mention the hard-to-get bumper guards, hood ornaments, & 2-tone treatment. Those are some really nice options. To be fair, it did mention that he added the power brakes & 4bbl. The Canadian Windsor was essentially like a US Saratoga that came standard with the 4bbl, but the Canadians got shafted with the 2bbl on their cars for some reason. The full wheelcovers & Torqueflite (I believe) were standard on the Saratoga and Canadian Windsor.
More interestingly though, he mentioned that he used 392 hemi pistons in his poly motor. I bet he used the '57 9.25:1 pistons, but not sure because a 354 needs more dome due to the smaller swept volume. I wonder if he had to relieve them for the poly valve placement or not. I'm betting he did. It would be interesting to talk to him about the details on it. |

Location: NY & VT | What a nice car & great story! Having had a '58 Windsor I'm quite fond of them, even if the US version was a different car, shorter wheelbase, Dodge built.
In the story said he put in "hemi pistons" but didn't specify 392, so assume he used 60-over 354 pistons from a '56 hemi... even so he may have had to relieve them |
