57 New Yorker. working on various lights. Currently in the trunk, I got the trunk light to work not really sure how it turns off when its 1/2 closed, but it does. I think that's how it's supposed to work. On to the license plate light. I bought a new light socket and bulb and followed the wire and juice from the front to the back. Had juice but didn't work. I removed socket and grounded it to the car, and it works. If it only has 1 wire for juice, is the socket itself the ground? I wrapped a wire around the socket and ran it to a bare nut and bolt and all is good. Not crazy about this setup. Does the pot metal license plate light fixture that bolts to the trunk act as a ground? then the socket grounds to it? Thanks billy
