This morning's episode of the 'My Classic Car' TV show with Dennis Gage, was from The Hot Rod Reunion at Mission Raceway, B.C. They showed what appeared to be two 1955 Plymouth convertibles with 1955 Dodge front ends. I have seen pictures of one but not in motion. If only we knew anyone who lived in that area who could explain this model to us.

Gerard: You have just discovered the world of Canadian Dodges, a.k.a. "Plodges".

They were Plymouths with Dodge front clips. So 115" wheel base and the Plymouth everything, except the front fenders, hood and grill.

Don't ask me why.

In 55 and 56 there were Crusaders, Regents and Mayfairs built like that.

That said, the 56 Canadian Custom Royals were "American" Dodges on 120" wheel base and non-Plymouth rear clips. *BUT* the engines were Plymouth, e.g. 303 poly = basically the same as 56 Plymouth Fury.

PS: GM did the same thing with the Canadian Pontiacs. They were Chevys with Pontiac front clips.

Export cars were either plymouth bodied with dodge front clips and designated as "dodge" models or plymouth bodied with desoto front clips and designated as "desoto" models.

I think it was a cost savings move by the manufactures, cheaper to only build one frame and partial body parts then two complete car models for a small market area. All about the money.

I love my Plodge, ... the best of both worlds.
