OK, turn signals work. Turn signal indicator on dash flashes and "clicks" as if turn signals are on when car is running. Turn signals not on or flashing. Could this be related to brake lights that stick on?? If I pump brakes a few times the brake lights are then OK as if switch is "sticking". Flashing turn signal indicator doesn't stop even if brake lights are ok. Two separate problems? Any thoughts?

Could not find source for this issue but I may not be searching correctly. Thank you kindly.

Sounds like you have a problem with your turn signal switch or you have a crossed power line somewhere. The only suggestion I have for you is to tear it apart and check it out. Pay attention to the lines that go to the flasher unit.

I agree with Nathan (Powerflite), i.e. you need to check out the signal light wiring. Note that the front signal lights are also the Park lights and as such, when you put the headlights on, the Park lights go out. Regardless, the signal current is controlled by the signal light switch (a very complicated piece) and the flasher.

Also note that the signal light position and the rear brake light wiring interact to give the rear signal light priority function even when the brake light is otherwise on.

I have previously investigated the 56 signal light switch in this thread:

Re-habbing front light wiring on a 55-56 Dodge:

Have fun.
