Hi guys,
I have my fuel, temp, oil pressure, amp gage pulled away from the dash a little to work on it. The temp and gas gauge have never worked since I've had the car. if you look at the attached photo, it looks like one of the tangs behind the gas gauge is broken. I have a wiring schematic for my car but what I'm seeing isn't lining up...does anyone have a good photo or a better schematic of the wiring hook up to these gauges? opposite the red and black wire is the fuel gauge....thanks billy

go to each sender (the one on the engine for temp and the one in the fuel tank for the fuel), disconnect the wire and ground the connector to any metal part of the car. The gauge should go full...That will tell you that the sender is malfunctioning, of course the ignition key must be on.

There are only 2 connections on the back of these gauges: power & sender. All the other wires are misc. power connections to send power to other places in the car. Unfortunately, the one tab that is broken off on your gauge is the sender connection. So you will need to either solder a new connector onto it, pop rivet a new tab on there, or else get another gauge. Getting another one is probably the easiest solution, but getting one that actually works is difficult.

It is a top down view. I repainted my needles and lens numbers. Hardest part is removal and the ammeter. Although it might bite me later, I ended up splicing the wire.

Blue/Black Fuel
Purple/Black Temp.

Depending on the year and options on the car, I have seen some schematics use the connections on the back of the gauge as a source of power for other accessories like said above; however, there are safer ways to distribute power.
