Can anyone provide source for the gray engine paint? Don't need much as engine was painted by previous owner, looks correct. Just need some touch up in areas.

Any of the Rustoleum products close enough for touch up?

Thank You Kindly

There is lots of evidence that the engines were painted silver at the factory.

REFERENCE:

15:40 in this Wishes On Wheels video:

"That familiar protective coat of Aluminum paint"

Personally, I have been slowly repainting the D500 engine in my 56 Dodge from rebuilders Blue to Silver using Tremclad (Canadian Rustoleum) Gloss Aluminum, spray and brush.

(The D500 valve covers were red with black wire covers)

"After" (still a work in progress):

Del S (Dels56) just sent me a link to some Aluminum Silver engine paint at Andy Bernbaum's new "Oldmoparts" website:

Here is the general 56 Dodge parts listing that he (Andy) has:

https://www.oldmoparts.com/autos/1956-dodge-8/?pa_year-made=1956&pa_...

Here are the paint links:

https://www.oldmoparts.com/parts/l_engine/engine-paint-spray-13-oz/

https://www.oldmoparts.com/parts/l_engine/engine-paint-brush-on-16-o...

Not cheap. I will stick to my Tremclad Gloss Aluminum

I think POR15 also has a bright Aluminum. Spray and brush. Expensive also. I’m not at home and don’t remember what I used on my 56 single rocker 315.

IMO, for "touch up" you need to know what the paint brand/color was.

So I guess we have to ask the guy on the spray gun??

That is rebranded Bill Hirsch paint. I'm not surprised that a scuzzy retailer like Bernbaum would relabel Hirsch products.

Bill Hirsch paint is the most accurate and longest lasting paint for these engines. Buy from them and not from a middle man.

https://www.hirschauto.com/Paint/departments/1/

The Plymouth Owner's Club at one time considered their silver to be the most accurate.

Umm...The paints available at Andy Bernbaum's new website (www.oldmoparts.com) are NOT relabeled. They carry the exact same label as the Bill Hirsch paint.

You might want to change/delete your comment above. Nothing "scuzzy" going on that I can see.

Same labels. Same prices. Just another outlet for Bill Hirsch to sell his products. Must be good for Bill, i.e. "free" marketing for his product.

The OP states "engine was painted by previous owner" which means the color might vary from the factory.

And I have been trying to convince the OP that, regardless of what paint the previous owner used (a "gray"??), the correct colour that he should be repainting
his 56 Dodge V8 engine is Aluminum Silver.

May the best paint supplier win.
