Hi folks.
I've seen many videos on YT and now I'm totally confused. Everyone does it a little differently. So how do you adjust the valves on our old V8 engines? Can someone explain that exactly? I need the instructions for the intake and exhaust valve (1960 318 cui).......thank you very much in advance.

by the way.... found this instruction from JEGS: "The Intake valve will be adjusted when the exhaust valve of the same cylinder is just starting to open and you will adjust the exhaust valve when the intake valve is just starting to close."

....and this from SUMMIT : When the intake valve is almost closed, STOP. Adjust the exhaust valve on that cylinder.

What is the correct way for us ??????

To me, the "almost" is a judgement call...I prefer to use this procedure:

The only time this really doesn't work, is with a long overlap cam.

Thanks a lot guys for your replys. In the meantime i figured out, that both valves, intake & exhaust, can be adjusted when the intake has just closed.

Found this on YT - this nice guy shows two ways to set the lash: E.O.I.C. and the easier way as discribed above.
