Hi all just an up date on my previous thread what I thought was a gearbox problem / then a brake booster issue causing the engine to almost stall when stopping or parked with foot on the brake , after some great help from John (57 Chisler) and David (56D500boy) I found the mechanical fuel pump failing to be the cause of the problem , I fitted a temporary tank and electric fuel pump and the car is running like a clock again .
So I am fitting an electric fuel pump near the fuel tank and an in line pressure regulator under the bonnet
Thanks again for the great help received Phil

In general, it's best to put the update with the original post so people can find it later. Having a separate post isn't going to be helpful to people later on.
