Regular Posts: 99 | In the course of collecting parts over recent years for the restoration of my 1956 Dodge 4 door sedan, ( no heating, no P/S)factory RHD, with heater delete plate ( brake master cylinder position prevents installation of normal heater fan etc), I considered I may want ( if I can afford it) put in after market air-con, such as Vintage Air etc. This is not in the immediate budget, but I am contemplating getting engine rebuilt soon. I have collected a dual crankshaft pulley ( P/n 1672482 noted on it by vendor), and a dual belt pulley for the fan hub (slightly smaller in dia). So, I was considering fitting these in anticipation of being useful for air-con. However, I do notice often when looking at such parts the comment is for non-air con cars. Why would this be? So long as the pulleys line up, and I have a suitable bracket made to mount a compressor, again with the pulleys lining up, will I have a problem I am not aware of ? Photos attached are of existing and potential replacement pulleys. Any help appreciated. However, I would suggest using a harmonic dampener from a newer small block with a newer pulley instead. Not running a dampener isn't a great idea from the factory.

Exner Expert 10K+ Posts: 10232 Location: Lower Mainland BC | . Steve: I might be able to figure out an answer to your question but in the meantime, 1672 482 is not the pulley Part Number (PN). It is some 1957 Chrysler nut. Yes, a nut. I will try to find more pulley info.

Exner Expert 10K+ Posts: 10232 Location: Lower Mainland BC | . I *think* that the correct double groove 56 Dodge crank pulley PN is 1672 682 so maybe 1672 482 was just a "typo". Actually now that I look at the masking tape label again, what Iread as 482 probably is 682, just bad pen-person-ship. Likewise, I think the double groove fan pulley is PN 1672 680. Extreme Veteran Posts: 366 | I am changing out my manual steering for Coaxial steering that I picked up in Arizona at Desert Auto in Casa Grande. The car that the components came off was an exact to my car, 1956 2 Dr H/T with a 315 single rocker. I bought everything from the steering wheel down to the steering arm. The pulleys and sizes Dave has highlighted are the same as what I purchased, well just about. The Pulley 1672.682 measures 6-5/8" which probably is the 6-9/16". No Biggie! I will be using a Saginaw P series pump with a 2 GPM/800 PSI Flow Control Valve. Attached photos are my idea of belt arrangement and pump mounting. Just putting the finishing touches on a power steering pump test stand so I can run the pump and check flow and pressure before I hook it up to the coaxial steering. once I am satisfied with the flow and pressure I will hook up the hose to the coaxial steering unit (still out of the car) and check the operation. If all goes as planned....Install in the car. NO A/C. Del Edited by dels56 2024-08-16 2:00 PM (IMG_8585 1.JPG) Attachments ---------------- IMG_8585 1.JPG (117KB - 58 downloads)
