I have been trying to help a fellow who is involved with the restoration of Dual Ghia that has some issues with the oil pan. What I learned along the way was: 1. All 56-58 Dual Ghias were powered by either 56 Dodge 315 4 bbl dual exhaust polys or the 315 D500 double rocker ("hemi") engines 2. When in 1956 Dodges, both engines used the same oil pan. 3. In the 56 Dodges, the steering linkage is near the back of the engine, necessitating a "center" sump oil pan (and presumably oil pick up). 4. In the Dual Ghias' the engine was set back about 12" from the original 56 Dodge position. This put the the steering linkage near the front of the engine. 5. The oil pan doesn't look like a stock 56 Dodge 315 oil pan. The front has a weird angled bit not present in the stock 315 oil pans. Based on the photos below, any ideas about the source of the Dual Ghia oil pan (the orange one)?? Cal | I believe the '57-'58 is more of a center sump, whereas the '55-'56 is more of a front sump - even though it obviously isn't all the way toward the front. I've never verified this, but if it's true, that extra space at the front could help him. If that ends up not being the case, he may have to modify one to work. Here are two of them showing the oil pan on the bottom of D500-7716. So again, anybody recognize this oil pan as a 315 or 325 or ??? I wonder if the issue with the oil pan/steering gear problem is related to an issue with the location of condition of the OE motor mounts on the revised engine-mounting cross-member?? An inch one way and WHAMMO!? Exner Expert 10K+ Posts: 10546 ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Location: Lower Mainland BC | . As I continue to search for Dual Ghias that had the D500 engine so I can check for the engine number, I am bumping into Dual Ghias that had the 315 Poly 4 bbl from the factory. Case in point is Dual Ghia 166 which had this engine (D633-106603) (photo taken of the restored engine while the car was undergoing major restoration). Great photo showing the oil pan. Seems like it would be just the stock 315 oil pan *BUT* the DG 166 was delivered in 1958 so maybe it is a 325 oil pan??
