New User Posts: 3 | Hello. I have recently purchased a 1958 New Yorker (basket case) and would like to decode the options this car had that are found on the data plate. I know how to read the 3-digit codes, but not how to decode them for this particular year and model. I feel I have done my due diligence attempting to find their meanings via multiple searches here and on google. I found a few for '58 Imperials and some for 57 New Yorkers, but apparently the codes were year and model specific. Is there a site where these codes are defined? I could post the codes here, but would rather not ask someone to do work I can do. Thanks for the assistance!

New User Posts: 3 | Hi FRWL. Thanks for the link and picture. I did find that link prior to posting. A few of the my codes are listed, but not all all. This is what lead me to think the New Yorker's must have had different option codes than the Imperials. And you're close on the color. That's one thing I could decipher. The color code is XJJ, which means it had a white roof and Spruce Green everywhere else. I'll try to post the data plate here. The only reason I didn't initially is because I felt like I was giving a stranger homework. Can't figure out how to attach a picture. Maybe I get the option after hitting Submit. Expert Posts: 2266 ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | . Your car doesn’t have Power Windows (first 30 have not “4” below in the middle row); Also doesn’t have Power Seat (second 30 have not “3” below); There are NO Air Conditioning (it should be coded as 341 instead 345)

I’m afraid to mistake: is that really Turquoise trim (code 38) or Green (code 34)… (1.JPG) (2.JPG) (3.JPG) Attachments ---------------- 1.JPG (86KB - 224 downloads) 2.JPG (60KB - 242 downloads) 3.JPG (64KB - 229 downloads)

New User Posts: 3 | Thanks for looking all that up! I'll print that out and keep it with my notes on this project. I can see remnants of most of those options on the car still. If interested, there's a video on youtube of this car being rescued from an Iowa ravine. No idea how long it had been there, but the trunk is sporting a license plate from 1965, so at a minimum she wasn't on the road very long. The immediate plan is to get it on a correct frame and rolled inside. Once I run out of money again on my current project, I'll turn my attention to this one. https://youtu.be/0xQhCuteqjs?si=R1nqJWPHUNRVaePI

Exner Expert 10K+ Posts: 10420 ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Location: So. Cal | Nice project. I need the side trim for my '58 New Yorker. So if you ever decide to part it out instead, let me know. I agree with Dave. The pictures you posted are of the green interior. Edited by Powerflite 2025-04-23 4:46 PM
