Has anyone heard of a 1957 Savoy KP-32?
Does anyone know what the KP-32 stands for?

Thanks, Blast

Not knowing where you are (Europe? Canada?) , I would guess that a KP32 is an export Plymouth.

Can you post a photo of the data plate on the firewall.

Something like this 56 Canadian Dodge data plate:

I don't have a data plate. I saw an article calling a 1957 Savoy a KP32.
It suggested it was a special trim package but didn't go into detail.
I was curious what it was.

We would love to see the article. Do you have the link that you could share with us?

In the meantime, up until the 1958 Model year, Plymouth model designations simply started with "P" followed
by a number. The numbers were like P26-3 for a 1955 6 cylinder Savoy and P31-2 for a 1957 V8 Savoy.

In 1958, all of the Mopar model designations started with"L". Plymouths were LP as in LP2-M for a 1957 V8 Savoy.

In 1959, Mopar continued with the letter designation and started them all with "M". A 59 Plymouth Savoy with a V8
was designated a MP2-L.

So I can imagine that somebody out there thought, "If 58 Plymouths were LP and 59 Plymouths were MP, that *MUST*
mean that 57 Plymouths were KP. Right?"

But that was wrong wrong wrong.

So until I see the article with the KP32, I am at a loss as to what the **** they are talking about.

You can see it if you google 1957 Plymouth Savoy kp32
After looking at the article it actually says KP-31-2 sport coupe.
According to you list of cars in 1957 Savoy Kp-31 was either a Suburban or Taxi
but the car in the article is neither.

Look again. The only time a P31-2 is mentioned, it differentiates the cars from the wagons by listing the
wheelbase, i.e. cars = 118" whereas the wagons (Suburbans) are 122".

So the 57 V8 Savoy cars are P31-2.

Robert - This is a typo in the Standard Catalog of American Cars. My copy, Second Edition, has the same text, but the 'K' is no longer there. The 'K' is an error.

Maybe a typo, I'm not judging. I'm showing what this story is based on.

This is repeated in net and considered as true.
There are many stories like this.

Ron, when was your book printed?
Mine in 2002

.

BTW, don't get me wrong, I still think buying this book was money well spent. It's a must-have book.

At least now we can see why somebody thought KP was correct for a 1957 Plymouth. A "typo" (or just plain incorrect information) that was subsequently corrected.
