If you are looking for a factory original style replacement, Y&Z will make you one. They use the original style cloth wire covering. Interesting and helpful as it may be, I'd have to hit the lottery to be able to afford $1500 for a harness! I'll check and see if a functional modern "non-correct" one would be cheaper. Else I will have to build my own, and I'm very lazy... | ||

Take your original harness out, while documenting where everything connects to. Then unwrap the original and replace each wire with the correct length of new wire. Then wrap it back up and install the correct connectors to the ends. Then you'll have a good replacement without spending big bucks on it. I can understand why there is expense to creating an original cloth-covered wire harness, but I don't understand why the later '57-up harnesses cost even more. You would think that if you could make a bunch of these at once, that you could keep the costs down to a reasonable level. | ||

That's what I'll likely end up doing, if I don't stumble over an NOS one(s) at the right price. I have a friend down the road with all the old parts manuals he got when our local dealership closed, so I will look up the p/n there. I just installed an NOS '56 tank sender I got for less than the cost of a crappy chinese repro, and I was thrilled with it! I have some parts cars, but they are presently distant from my current location. When I get a chance, I'll rob the harnesses from one of them for a pattern to reduce Plaza "down-time".
